當(dāng)?shù)貢r(shí)間11日下午（北京時(shí)間12日清晨）美國總統(tǒng)特朗普在馬里蘭州一家軍方醫(yī)療機(jī)構(gòu)看望傷兵和一線醫(yī)護(hù)人員時(shí)，戴上了口罩。
美國媒體報(bào)道稱，這是自新冠肺炎疫情在美國暴發(fā)以來，特朗普首次公開佩戴口罩。

"I think when you are in a hospital, especially in that particular setting when you are talking to a lot of soldiers, people that in some cases just got off the operating table, I think it's a great thing to wear a mask."
CNN報(bào)道稱，特朗普同意在公共場合戴口罩是其助手和顧問強(qiáng)烈“懇求”的結(jié)果，他們敦促總統(tǒng)為仍抵觸戴口罩的人樹立榜樣。
CNN reported that White House aides and advisers have been begging the president to wear a face covering publicly for weeks in order to encourage those who are defiantly skeptical of mask wearing.
此前，特朗普拒絕戴口罩，稱這是個(gè)人選擇。批評(píng)人士曾說，他拒絕戴口罩，表明他缺乏領(lǐng)導(dǎo)力。
He had previously refused to wear a mask and wouldn't ask other Americans to do so, saying it was a personal choice. Critics had said his refusal to wear one showed a lack of leadership.
據(jù)央視新聞報(bào)道，在呼吸道傳染病防控中，口罩的作用非常關(guān)鍵。但相當(dāng)一部分美國民眾對戴口罩有比較大的抵觸情緒，這也是導(dǎo)致美國疫情曲線不降反升的重要原因之一。據(jù)統(tǒng)計(jì)，目前全美已經(jīng)有20多個(gè)州外加華盛頓哥倫比亞特區(qū)的地方政府強(qiáng)制要求民眾在公共場所佩戴口罩。但作為美國總統(tǒng)，特朗普卻始終堅(jiān)持公開露面時(shí)不戴口罩——這引起不少公共衛(wèi)生專家的批評(píng)，不少美國政界人士也多次呼吁特朗普“以身作則”戴口罩。
據(jù)CNN報(bào)道，這是疫情以來，白宮記者團(tuán)首次看到特朗普戴著口罩。在5月底，特朗普在密歇根州視察一家福特工廠時(shí)也曾戴上口罩，但在面對鏡頭時(shí)他又摘掉了。當(dāng)被問及原因時(shí)，他的回答讓人哭笑不得，“我就是不想讓媒體開心”。他表示，自己不想屈服于媒體的批評(píng)和壓力。
"I didn't want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it," Trump said during a May visit to a Ford plant in Michigan, where he refused to wear a mask in view of the press in defiance of Ford rules.
其實(shí)在7月初，特朗普就突然改口稱：“我很喜歡戴口罩，感覺自己就像‘獨(dú)行俠’?！?10多天后，終于首次公開戴上了口罩。
“It was a dark, black mask, and I thought it looked OK. Looked like the Lone Ranger. But, no, I have no problem with that. I think -- and if people feel good about it, they should do it.”
路透社評(píng)論認(rèn)為，特朗普周六首度公開佩戴口罩是在美國新冠確診病例不斷創(chuàng)歷史新高之際做出的。
